~ Disney Birthdays: Tangled

Jocie from One Project Closer’s: The Better Half is back today, sharing another one of her wonderful birthday parties!  Her Brave party was spectacular, wasn’t it?  Today she is showing us the Tangled party that she threw for her daughter last year.  Again she has done an amazing job, so many fun ideas!

The Better Half is more decor and crafts oriented (think glue gun and sewing machine instead of power tools). Tangled Birthday Party

Did you see my guest post yesterday about my daughter’s 4th Birthday party that was Brave themed? Well, my daughter, Izzie loves princesses, like most little girls, and I wanted to share with you her 3rd birthday party that was Tangled theme. I loved looking back at this and seeing how different she, her sister (Lucy), and her friends all are now. Izzie looks like such a big girl now that she has hair! lol.

Do you remember the “bears” from yesterday? This is a picture of Izzie (right) and her BFF, Lily (left), one year younger.

I love that Ethan is such a wiz with Photoshop because we made these invitations for 15 cents a piece by designing them ourselves and having them printed at Target.

Izzie dressed as Rapunzel for the party and insisted that Lucy dress as “baby Rapunzel” for the party. Since the dress isn’t sold in stores in smaller sizes, I made a Baby Rapunzel costume for Lucy using tulle, sequins, ribbon, and an old purple shirt. Yes, I did this at 10 pm the night before the party! This picture of Izzie and Lucy totally cracks me up – Izzie is having a blast, but Lucy was not very happy waking up from her nap and did not want to be put down. hahaha

For party favors, I made crowns to clip into hair out of felt, hot glue, and puffy paint. I also gave the boys foam swords – obviously the princes needed to protect the princesses from any threats! lol.

I also made floating lanterns, aka tissue poms, using a tutorial by Martha Stewart. Izzie loved them and kept them for weeks in her room after the party. Now, Party City and most party supply stores sell them for pretty cheap, so I would likely not ever make them again.

In addition to balloons, streamers, and lanterns, we also had Tangled paper plates and plastic cups (that the kids got to take home with them). I got these for a great price at Walmart.

For table decoration, I filled a jar with skittles, put a number “3” inside,and attached helium balloons to the top. It was a great way to add color to the table, plus we got to eat skittles forever (or a couple days…lol).

We didn’t do many party games except Pin the Bow on Rapunzel’s Hair! It was super easy to make using scrap-booking card stock for the braid and different colored card stock for the bows. Again, I made this VERY last-minute the morning of the party.

Finally, the most EPIC (and time-consuming) piece of the party was Rapunzel’s tower. I saw an idea on Pinterest and I tried replicate the idea for Izzie. I had never made fondant before and it went okay…just okay. Some of the hair kept breaking off, but they did look really beautiful and the kids loves them. Again, not sure I will ever attempt this again.
